Ksheerapaka kalpana is a special type of preparation made of herbs and milk. The Kashaya rasa(Astringent taste) may sometimes cause ill effects and is; unpalatable, to minimize these the herb will be boiled in milk along with the water in certain proportion. Method of preparation: According to Acharya Charaka and Sharangadhara:
The coarce powder of Medicine, Milk and Water are taken in respective proportion and boiled till all water evaporates and only milk remains. Filtered and used.
According to Vagbhata:
As the complete extraction of medicine may not be appropriate when directly boiled in milk so it can be made into Kwatha (decoction) and then boiled in equal quantity of milk till milk remains. filtered and used.
Matra(Dose): No standard dose for Ksheera paka but the dose of Kwatha : 2 Pala can be taken.It is prescribed according to Roga and Rogi bala(strength).
